NL ALBUM REVIEW!! Olamide’s “Carpe Diem” Album Might Be The Biggest Album In 2020, Even Bigger Than Burna Boy’s “Twice As Tall”

YNBL Boss, Olamide presents his second project of the year 2020 dubbed Carpe Diem a few weeks ago following the released of 999 EP earlier

Olamide has never disappointed his fans since the year 2011 when he rose to the limelight. But it obvious and apparently clear that recent years have been challenging for the indigenous rapper as new faces like Naira Marley & Zlatan are contending.

However, 999 EP seems to be a failing project as it doesn’t acquire the expected streams and trends despite the fact that he happens to change his usual style and go universal all through excluding “Wonma”.

The song is reviewed accordingly on the tracklist. 👇

1. Another Level

This sounds extremely good and I don’t have any reason to discredit it.

The flow of this track that makes it different from the usual one way Baddo’s pattern is the chorus break-in

“Enemies steady blocking my way, But me I’m steady making more pay, I dey another level, I dey another level”

Even if the rap is sounding too boring in your ears, the intervention of the chorus will definitely reset the vibes back.

2. Greenlight

Featuring an artiste on this track would have been better as this sounds like his regular song which has been gradually fading off.

It sounds similar to one of his tracks in “The Glory” Album.

Guess that’s one big reason why the track can’t penetrate solely as it was been released before the album.

3. Infinity ft Omah Lay

“She dey feel am dada, Dadaride da darida, She dey feel am dada, Dadaride da darida”

Omo, I dey feel this gbedu die. 👌👌👌🙌🙌

Sentiment apart, I already predicted this track as top-notch even before downloading it on my device.

Expectation met as Omah Lay laid down a smooth-line chorus for Baddo to jump on.

You can’t deny you don’t appreciate listening to that Omah Lay’s chorus and the way Olamide comes in.😂😂😂

4. Eru

Still the old pattern but it seems this sits right in typical listeners’ head.

Average music lovers would love this track possibly because of the party-tune in it. It’s a direct club song, you must to “gbe body”.

“Ko le remi rara, Ko le remi rara o, Eru omo eru eru ebe omo ebe, Eyin ma nawo tan, Awa alowo nle, Eru omo eru eru ebe omo ebe”

5. Triumphant ft Bella Shmurda

This is a premium package of the track “Vision 2020” which was owned by Lasu boy, Bella Smurda.

Baddo on this, go extraordinary to deliver the optimum flow for both rap listeners and emotional souls.

Bella on this  – “Man I triumphant, And I’ve been through a lot, Many people wrote me off, But God no gree, Kan le dayon man”

Baddo fire on “Yeah omi je lo ju mi reminiscing, Remember mama used to warn me I never listened, Some guys died some them dey for prison, Thank God for all the fasting and prayer she did, But odun mi gan when I just start to hammer”

Have been putting this particular track on repeat since these days. I don rock ham tire 😂😂

6. At Your Service

You can be listening to this with your earphone plugged in your ears.

It sounds just like a normal freestyle song from Olamide.

7. Do Better

This is seriously a party 2 of “Say Something“. 😂😂😂

Olamide shouldn’t have included this track in the album, maybe he has some audience that listened to this kind.

But let be honest that this one is going nowhere, the kind of track that remains and dies in the album.

8. Chimichanga

This a love song coming from a wealthy or successful person.

When you have enough to showcase to your crush. “chop my money” would be your anthem.

9. Shilalo ft Phyno

Despite featuring another rap artiste, Phyno, there’s no flexibility in the tune, it sour.

The idea of TWO KINGS (Olamide & Phyno) on a song has seemingly declined.

Nigerians are usually tired of long usage of anything. Featuring a non-rapper would be preferable.

10. Loading ft Bad Boy Timz

“MJ” crooner, Bad Boy Timz is on this track to support the Carpe Diem project.

The Bad Boy Timz‘s chorus and rap from Olamide are not bad.

11. Unconditionally ft Peruzzi

Davido’s songwriter, Peruzzi didn’t disappoint on this with a well-arranged chorus.

You all know Baddo also won’t be a disappointment on a properly composed song. Let me give you a little from the tune.

“I don’t need lighter, Girl you body blaze, Honey, unconditionally you high me, Your body fire, Your body blaze, Honey, unconditionally you high me”

12. Plenty ft Fireboy

YBNL duo, Olamide, and Fireboy are superb on this, they fantastically delivered the best song of the year for us.

This is by far the best collaboration between a singer and a rapper. Olamide used more rhymes word to blend the Fireboy’s chorus “plenty”.

If you fancy “Afar”, this song titled “Plenty” is another food for you to consume.

Fireboy – “Kodun ko po plenty plenty, O necessary, Ahh ye ye, Yeah yeah, Nothing nothing, No one can change my destiny oo, Ahh ye ye, Yeah yeah”

I won’t drop Olamide’s own here 😋😋😋

Our ratings on the album is, 8 /10 ★★★★★★★☆☆
