Blessing Okoye Nwakaego, a Nigerian lady accused of defaming actress Eniola Badmus on social media, has been sentenced to three years in prison.
She made serious allegations against the actress, accusing her of being a pimp who arranges girls for politicians in exchange for money.
During the trial, Okoye confessed that she was coerced into making the defamatory video by her friend, Fortune Ibe, who is currently at large.
She admitted to agreeing to the scheme because she was in urgent need of money to pay her rent.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Lagos delivered the ruling on Wednesday. Okoye pleaded guilty to two counts of cyberstalking.
Despite showing remorse, she was given the option of paying a fine of N150,000 instead of serving the three-year prison sentence.
