The globally acclaimed Afrobeat icon, Davido Adeleke, recently couldn’t hide his elation regarding the outstanding success of his talented peer, Rema, in the United States.
In a recent interview on The Kris Fade Show, the UAE’s premier Music Station, the artist fondly referred to as O.B.O by his admirers, voiced his amazement at the chart-topping performance of Rema’s hit song ‘Calm Down’ on the U.S. music charts.
Davido went on to share his thoughts, stating that it was beyond his imagination that Afrobeat had gained such global prominence. He expressed immense pride in witnessing stars like Rema making waves across the globe.
“Years ago, I never thought a Nigerian artiste would have a Top 5 record in America. Rema has had Top 5 records in America for the past eight months, non-shaken,” he exclaimed.
Remarkably, Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ and its remix featuring Selena Gomez recently achieved a historic milestone as the first Nigerian song to remain on the U.S. Billboard charts for an entire year.
