In a recent podcast ’roundtable’ on Amazon Prime, legendary producer Swizz Beatz revealed how he and his wife Alicia Keys were the first to introduce two of the biggest afrobeats singers now active, Wizkid and Burna Boy, to America.
Swizz Beatz revealed that in 2015, he and his wife were the first to perform Wizkid‘s “Ojuelegba” for audience members. He also disclosed how he had introduced Burna Boy at the singer’s first significant US engagement.
He admitted that when he began to listen to more Fela Kuti and overall afrobeats, people began to perceive him as being too African.
