It’s been a year already since the establishment of Zanku Records and Marlian Records.

These two record labels are born out of the ground-breaking success of Naira Marley and Zlatan in 2019.

Both artistes unexpectedly grew so big in 2019 to the point that they felt the need to stand-alone and sign a couple of artistes to kick-start 2021.

The reason behind Zlatan and Naira Marley‘s establishment of record label is not far-fetched, both artistes understood that their shine in 2019 might last long, they needed to invest in other raving talents to stay relevant in the music industry in years to come.

Marlian Records By Naira Marley

To begin 2020, Naira Marley signed Zinoleesky, Mohbad, Cblvck and Fabian Blu. As the year goes by, he signed Lyta, Emo Grae and Tori Keeche to Marlian music.

All these artistes already had a couple of music projects under Marlian Music but it is safe to say that Mohbad turned the most valuable act pulling a lot of streams and gaining a lot of relevance on the street.

Others have good music out too but Naira Marley could not push them enough because only Mohbad and Zinoleesky who had a good size of fanbanse managed to stay relevant.

Zanku Record By Zlatan Ibile

Zanku Records, on the other hand, is not as big as Marlian Records in terms of a number of artistes.

Zlatan who is the Zanku label boss employed the services of Oberz, Papisnoop and Jamopyper in 2020 but only Jamopyper emerged the most valuable Zanku Records act in 2020.

Zanku Records also have a couple of joint hit tracks in 2020, titled “Unripe Pawpaw” and “The Matter” which had Zlatan and Papisnoop.

One could notice that Zlatan’s personal influence and his good use of social media drove Zanku Records to succeed in 2020.

The Difference Between Zlatan & Naira Marley As A Record Label Boss

Unlike Naira Marley, Zlatan did a lot ranging from social media challenges, dance videos and lots more to make Zanku Records projects in 2020 a hit and of course he deserved all the accolades.

Naira Marley on the other hand only had money to spend on a good number of recordings and music videos but his personal promotional efforts in promoting the songs from his artistes is so poor compared to Zlatan.

Now, it is not clear who is a better record label owner between the two evolving record label owner.
