5 Of The Greatest Mark Wahlberg Movies

Mark Wahlberg is currently one of the most popular movie stars in Hollywood. Wahlberg started out as the leader of the rap group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.

However, it was his good looks and physique that made him famous as a top Calvin Klein underwear model in the 1990s. It was then an easy step from there to Hollywood. Today, we take a look at some of his greatest films produced to date.

The Departed

This is arguably one of the finest films of the twenty-first century, with one of the best casts. Wahlberg is without a doubt the scene-stealer. He plays Staff Sergeant Sean Dignam who is the mystery’s foulmouthed comic relief, and he could be the only officer noble (and intelligent) enough to live. Watching Wahlberg yell profanities isn’t the only reason The Departed is so enjoyable to watch again and again, but Wahlberg’s acting heightens the film’s dark pleasures.

Shooter

Based on Stephen Hunters 1993 book, Shooter tells the tale of a U.S. marksman who returns to duty to defend the president from an assassination plot. Bob Swagger is betrayed and then falsely accused of committing the assassination.

Wahlberg gives an outstanding performance as Swagger. The intensity and attention to detail that Mark puts into this role radiate across the whole film.

Ted

In this movie, Wahlberg portrays John Bennett, a long-time Boston resident who learns that his teddy bear is alive. When the world stops caring, he and his stuffed friend become stoner buddies. In this film, Wahlberg shows off his acting chops as a witty, good-hearted man who seeks to distance himself from his pal as life moves on.

The breezy, easygoing pace of the film is aided by Wahlberg’s unexpectedly comfortable chemistry with co-star Seth MacFarlane. This movie has achieved such fame that it’s even inspired new online slots and a video game also called ‘Ted’ developed by Acclaim Entertainment, all depicting this extravagant teddy bear.

Three Kings

This is a harsh-edged satire of U.S. engagement abroad that takes a strong genre approach with its heist narrative. Three Kings is a fascinating blend of genres.

During the invasion of Iraq in 1991, Wahlberg, George Clooney, and Ice Cube portray three soldiers who plan and execute a robbery and steal some gold. The humorously bland performance that Mark Wahlberg gives is a great fit for David O. Russell’s satire on the dehumanization that occurs in the military.

Uncharted

This movie is based on the popular video game franchise of the same name. It features a star-studded cast that includes Tom Holland, Antonio Banderas, Bryan Cranston, and, of course, Mark Wahlberg. Wahlberg plays Victor Sullivan, a treasure hunter who acts as a father figure to Nathan Drake, played by Holland. This film is a whirlwind of an adventure and comes highly recommended.

Conclusion

It is evident that Mark Wahlberg has built an impressive career as an actor and producer, and we look forward to seeing more films of high quality from him for years to come.
