Top 10 Songs We Thought Would Be Monster Hits But Didn’t Live Up To The Hype

Nigerian artistes have a way of keeping us on our toes but i doubt if they know how much it hurts to keep your heart and soul on something and getting less that you expect.

Our artistes will keep us waiting in anticipation for a song they are yet to work on. Only for them to release it and the song turned out to be a total nonsense.

This year, there are some songs that came with lots of hype but when released, no one seem to catch the vibe.

Below are songs we thought will be a hit in 2019 but came out as trash:-

Wizkid – Ghetto Love

After Several trailers, teasers, Tweets, of what the video of Ghetto love will look like, Starboy releases his first single of the year after keeping us waiting for 7 months.

Ghetto Love” seems to be a thirst quencher for those waiting to listen to “Joro”. A single that took Wizkid 9 months to plan and execute.

The African singer Wizkid, who have been away from music as a solo act since December 2018 returns with ” Ghetto Love” ahead of his “Made in Lagos” stipulated to drop on October 2019.

Tiwa Savage – 49-99

Tiwa Savage released “49-99” which is her first single after her exit from Mavin and first under ROC nation.

With Tiwa Savage holding it down for African women has a whole a lot is definitely expected from her and considering the fact that the title of the song is linked to the poor living condition in the country we expected more lyrical content.

With the song listening at Ojueleba to the billboard and social media push everyone really expected a lot from the single but it really lacked lyrical content and it didn’t really pass the message expected with so much airplay the single didn’t do has much has expected

Vector Ft. Davido – Comfortable

The hype around this song started in the midst of Vector‘s Beef with M.I and everyone thought it will turn out to be the biggest song this year.

It’s quite unfortunate that the song “Comfort“did not enter well as expected. AQ predicted well in his diss track to the Lafiaji king.

Even Davido can’t help Vector’s career.. LOL!!!

Lil Kesh Ft. Naira Marley

Yagi label boss Lil Kesh team up with the Marlians Huncho Naira Marley to dish out “O’Por“.

Never under-rate the power of weed, and what smokers can do. Man, the hype on this song skyrocketed the anticipation for it. We thought we would get something better “Illuminati” But once again, Lil Kesh and Naira Marley failed us.

The whole body of the song was actually describing and embracing the love, beauty and shape of a lady Obviously what they were thinking when on cloud 8.9. I wish i heard another word than just “O’Por” in the track

Teni – Sugar Mummy

3 months into the year, Teni drops her first single “Sugar Mummy” which seems to be like an experimented stunt.

Trust Nigerians, everyone took a swipe at her questioning her talent and relevance. She teamed up with Rexxie and prolly dropped one of her Instagram freestyles on a beat to give us that. However, that was the wackest you’ll ever get from her.

Teni Really fucked us up on that one trust me!

Slimcase – Lamba Xtra

After using almost 6 months to hype the song on social media, Slimcase still go-ahead to release this very awful song titled “Lamba Xtra

He legit carried all fans along on how he tours the streets of Lagos to get more than 1000 Lambas incorporated in the making of the song.

The hope was high, the bar was risen but then the song lacked lyric content, Slimcase uses vulgar words which made it less friendly for the radio.

The track has no definite structure, it sounds like what Slimcase did when he was drunk as it shows no adequate preparation.

Zlatan Ft. Burna Boy – Gbeku

The Anticipation Of This Particular Song Was Like The Second Coming Of Jesus Because Of The Success Story Their First Collaboration “Killin Dem” But it Ended in Tears And Disappointment.

Zlatan Was Lost in The Song Maybe Because He Was More Particular About The “Gbeku” Dance Instead Of Delivering Good Lyrics. Trust me, the song would have not made it out of Zlatan’s camp if not for Burna Boy‘s Lyrics.

Olamide – Choco Milo

After much anticipation on Social Media and long waiting from fans on “Choko Milo“, Olamide disappoints his fans.

People are expecting another banger after dropping “Pawon” which scattered everywhere, a song like “Choko Milo” just killed the already flaming vibe.

It’s no doubt, this song doesn’t deserve the wait and data spent in purchasing.

Lyta Ft. Davido – Monalisa Remix

So Lyta dropped a banger called “Monalisa” and the song got massive listening and attention to the extent that Davido decided to jump on the remix.

People anticipated the remix knowing a heavy weight like Davido would surely do justice to the song and but unfortunately the original version sounds far more better than the remix.

It would have been better if Lyta and Davido did a brand new song together than the “Monalisa Remix” and we see this as a waste of Time, Money, and Resource.

Naira Marley – Bad Influence

Soapy & Puta made Naira Marley the street Lamba King.People went crazy when he dropped the artwork of “BAD INFLUENCE

Many expected the regular danceable beat with lyrics like “Because I dey smoke Igbo, Because I carry Olosho. They say I’m a bad influence” but were disappointed when the Marlian King dropped a gospel track😂

I Guess Naira Marley was trying to redeem his image to the world Or rather trying to let us know he was capable of doing different types of music but gut guess what? He failed us.

The end
